Durkha Dog Chew, an innovator within the yak cheese pet treat market, has announced its plans to inaugurate a comprehensive yak cheese chew manufacturing facility in Nepal, with a projected opening in April 2024. As the first U.S.-based enterprise to centralize large-scale production in Nepal, Durkha stands at the forefront, ensuring stringent oversight of quality, production processes, supply chain management, and product uniformity. Initially, the facility anticipates a production volume of 50 metric tonnes monthly for the initial half-year, which is expected to increase to 100 metric tonnes per month by the following year, with provisions for further enlargement in line with market demands.
The chews produced by Durkha are composed of an array of natural components such as milk and lime juice, offering a nourishing substitute to conventional rawhide products. They are acclaimed for their enhanced digestibility when contrasted with standard rawhide, delivering a secure and more satisfying mastication experience for pets.
Neil Pokharel, Chief Executive Officer of Durkha Dog Chew, applies an extensive background of direct experience and knowledge to this enterprise; having been acquainted with yak chews since childhood in Nepal. Capitalizing on over eight years of insight into the U.S. dog yak cheese sector, Mr. Pokharel has collaborated with partners and family members in Nepal in pioneering efforts to develop this distinctive yak cheese factory. This factory is anticipated to begin its operational phase in April 2024.
Mr. Pokharel shared his excitement about the initiative: “I have always harbored the ambition of providing healthful cheese chews for our furry loved ones across the globe, and that aspiration has come to fruition thanks to my partner’s dedication and my family’s assistance. Our team’s relentless commitment to excellence and product optimization allows us to introduce Cheese Chews that will redefine industry benchmarks.”
